Synopsis
In one of Shakespeare’s most famous stories, justice, vengeance, and intrigue abound in this richly imagined version of Ancient Rome. Jealous of Julius Caesar’s increasing influence, and wary of his meteoric rise to power, Brutus, Cassius, and their fellow conspirators murder Caesar in one of the most striking scenes in theatrical history. From Mark Antony’s famous mourning oration (“Friends… Romans… Countrymen…”) to Brutus’s patriotic explanation of his deeds (“Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more.”), Julius Caesar is full of unforgettable poetry dear to any theatre lover’s heart.
