NTPA is proud to announce our newest Resident Director, Jason Robert Villarreal!
Jason began his journey with the performing arts studying the dance Ballet Folklorico in his hometown and Texas border city, Edinburg, where Hispanic culture thrives. In 2006 he moved to Dallas to attend The University of Texas at Arlington where he graduated with a BFA in Theatre Performance. Upon graduation he worked summer stocks in out-of-state programs that included rolling reps (performing up to 5 different shows in 1 week!) Jason then received roles performing in several national tours including Dora The Explorer (Tico The Squirrel), Rapunzel, A Very Hairy Fairy Tale (Socretese), and A Christmas Story.
After tour life he settled back in Dallas where he enjoys working with youth and using the art of theater to help develop social skills in young children and teens. Jason joined the NTPA Creative Staff in 2019. He has performed in numerous shows all over DFW. Some stages include Casa Manana, Uptown Players, Lyric Stage, Second Thought Theatre, Watertower, Theatre Arlington, Garland Civic, and many more. Some of his favorite roles include, (Molina) Kiss of the Spider Woman, (Hotblades Harry) Urinetown, (Baker) Into the Woods, (Edgar) Rapunzel, A Very Hairy Fairy Tale, and (Will Parker) Oklahoma.
