Headshot of NTPA Plano Managing Director and Head of the NTPA Academy Mike Mazur
Congratulations to our Artist of the Month for November, Mike Mazur!

Mike is thrilled to be a part of the NTPA family, having worked as a theatrical director, writer, choreographer and educator since earning his Bachelor’s in English, Speech and Drama Education from Bowling Green State University in his home state of Ohio. Since graduating, Mike has taught theatre at the High School, Community College and University level and earned his Master’s in Musical Theatre Writing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.

These experiences have led Mike to lecture on the role of theatre in society at both The Sondheim Symposium in New Jersey (where he met Stephen Sondheim) and the International Conference on Fine and Performing Arts in Athens, Greece.  He is currently a member of the Educational Theatre Association and President of the Plano Arts Coalition.

This month marks Mr. Mike’s 5th Anniversary at NTPA. Originally hired as the Managing Director of NTPA Plano, Mike also now serves as the Head of School of the NTPA Academy. “I love how both parts of my job at NTPA give me the opportunity to watch young performers grow and be challenged,” he said.  Mike has directed over 20 productions for NTPA at Plano, REP and The Academy, and is currently Directing Chicago for the Academy and the 10th Anniversary production of Scrooge for the REP. He is looking forward to his upcoming shows which include GODSPELL, CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, Jr and MISS SAIGON, as well as appearing as The Wizard in NTPA’s 30th Anniversary production of THE WIZARD OF OZ.

Mike is grateful to Darrell, Sara, Lindsey and the rest of the NTPA staff, volunteers and board members for all the wonderful opportunities NTPA has given him. As he says in Scrooge: “Thank you very much!”
