Join us for a free Artist Reception on Sunday, July 26, from 6:30–8:00 p.m. and meet the artist!
North Texas Performing Arts is proud to feature award-winning artist Barbara Bell Dubovsky as our July gallery artist. Her exhibit, Inspiration and Imagery, celebrates the extraordinary beauty found in both the natural and manmade world through expressive watercolor paintings and prints inspired by travel, architecture, gardens, and America’s breathtaking landscapes.

North Texas Performing Arts invites the community to an Artist Reception celebrating Barbara Bell Dubovsky and her July exhibit, Inspiration and Imagery, on Sunday, July 26, from 6:30  –8:00 p.m. in the Neiman Marcus Welcome Center inside Willow Bend Center of the Arts located at 6121 W Park Blvd, Suite B216, Plano, Texas 75093.

Barbara’s artistic vision is shaped by a lifelong appreciation for observation and discovery. Whether capturing the luminous colors of a flower garden, the elegance of cut crystal, the character of a covered bridge, or the grandeur of a city skyline, she invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and find inspiration in the world around them and often in her own backyard!

One of the highlights of the exhibit is Barbara’s stunning Grand Canyon Series, inspired by a seven-day rafting expedition through one of America’s greatest natural treasures. Immersed in the canyon’s monumental scale, shifting light, and remarkable colors, Barbara documented the journey through photographs that later became the foundation for a remarkable collection of watercolor paintings. Several works from this series have since been acquired by private collectors.

Barbara studied fine art at Collin College, completing more than 60 credit hours in painting, drawing, watercolor, printmaking, design, sculpture, and life drawing. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards and exhibited extensively throughout Texas and beyond. She is an active member of the Richardson Civic Art Society and Plano Art Association and has also been involved with American Women Artists, North Texas Printmakers Guild, Outdoor Painters Society, Texas Visual Arts Association, Southwest Watercolor Society, and Urban Sketchers DFW/Texas.

This exhibit is especially meaningful to Barbara because it represents a return to a place that has long been part of her family’s story. More than fifteen years ago, she was one of the many dedicated parents behind the scenes at the original Plano Children’s Theatre, sewing costumes, volunteering, and cheering on her young actor from the audience. She is excited to return to NTPA as a featured artist and witness the remarkable growth of the organization from those early days into one of the nation’s premier youth theater organizations.

As the nation celebrates America’s 250th year, Barbara’s work reminds us that our country’s story is reflected not only in history books, but also in its extraordinary landscapes, architecture, and communities. Her paintings celebrate the beauty that surrounds us and invite us to appreciate the places that define our shared heritage. Through Inspiration and Imagery, visitors are encouraged to reflect on the enduring beauty of America and the everyday moments that inspire creativity.
