What is NTPA Musical Theatre Orchestra?

The NTPA Musical Theatre Orchestra is the flagship live music program at North Texas Performing Arts. As part of our comprehensive education plan to train and empower performing artists across North Texas, this innovative program gives student musicians the unique educational opportunity to train, rehearse, and perform alongside professional musicians to learn how to perform in a professional musical theatre pit.

With thousands of talented student musicians across North Texas, the pipeline to gaining real experience playing the musical theatre canon remains inaccessible to most. We bridge the gap to give our elite performances a live orchestra while giving student musicians a chance to gain real-world experience alongside professionals.

Our audition-based program is perfect for any capable musician interested in gaining the unique musical experience of joining a musical theatre pit, networking with professionals in the industry, and expanding their artistic abilities.

“The reality is that, although we believe this unique program is educationally essential to our growing infrastructure of arts education in North Texas, paying professionals to partner with these students costs more than our standard production model.

We welcome the patronage of anyone who believes in the power of live music to help us expand our orchestral programming, covering costs of instrument rentals, technical equipment, and the time and expertise of professionals in the music industry to help train the next generation of musicians and performers.”
