2023 Summer Camps Bring Storybooks to the Stage!
Learning doesn’t have to stop just because it’s summertime! Theatre camps are a great way for children to explore literature in a fun and creative way. Kids will transform into a superhero, a princess, or their favorite storybook character as they bring popular stories to life on stage at North Texas Performing Arts exciting theatre summer programs! With summer learning opportunities for ages 5 to 18, there’s a spot for everyone to learn from our professional directors, actors, and singers who have worked everywhere from Broadway to L.A.
Week-long camps are available in half-day and full-day options for ages 5-14 and two-week productions are available for all ages, K-12! Each one-week camp has a different theme based on popular children’s stories like Descendants, Frozen, and Harry Potter. There are a dozen options for two-week productions, and there’s truly something for all ages, from Frozen Kids to Legally Blonde JR to Band Geeks!

Important Information
- Each camp begins with a brief half-hour orientation meeting for parents.
- Students should bring a snack and drink each day. Full day students should also bring a sack lunch each day.
- All camps end with a showcase for friends and family.

Half Day Camps
These week-long camps are themed around popular children’s stories and promote learning through creativity. Each week, students will actively bring a different story to life through visual and performing arts. Activities may include story dramatization, improvisation, theatre games, movement, pantomime, and various theme-related arts and crafts.
Exploring Theatre
Ages 7-11
Half Day Camps
In this exciting week-long camp, students explore all aspects of creating theatre from developing a story to writing a script and staging a play. Under the direction of a skilled artist/educator, students in the week-long camp start by learning the basics of storytelling and then take those skills and write a short scene. On Friday, they will perform a staged reading of their new script for families and friends!
Full Day Production
Ages 9-14
Full Day Camps
A full day production (7 hours including a 1 hour supervised lunch break) – Acting, choreography, theater skill games, and more! According to each week’s theme, students will work on acting skills in the morning and rehearse in the afternoon for a whole day of theatre fun. Showcase for family and friends on Friday of each week. This camp does require students to memorize work at home on line memorization.
Two -Week Productions
Grades K-12
Two-week productions are perfect for the experienced student who wants to participate in a major production this summer! All the excitement of a full length production crammed into two crazy fun weeks! Students in two-week productions will audition the first day of rehearsal and all students who enroll will be cast. Two-week intensives require a video audition prior to the first rehearsal to be cast. In addition to tuition, students will be required to provide their own costume and meet a ticket requirement.
Intro to Acting
Grades 6-9
Students will develop the key skills and vocabulary of acting and performance. Students will learn basic acting techniques and exercises that prepare them to audition for and perform in any production.
