Synopsis
In “Masque of the Red Death” Prince Prospero attempts to escape a terrible plague by hiding in his abbey with other wealthy nobles, only to come face to face with the ‘Red Death’ itself. In “Cask of Amontillado”, a man plots deadly revenge on an unsuspecting friend he believes has wronged him. In “Murders of a Rue Morgue”, (often considered the first modern detective story) a brilliant amateur detective tries to solve a seemingly unsolvable case involving the death of two women. In “Fall of the House of Usher”, a once-proud family legacy crumbles as the physical and mental health of its two remaining members rapidly decline. In “The Tell-Tale Heart”, a killer defends their sanity while recalling their evil deed and how they were ultimately undone. And finally, in “The Raven”, a grieving lover is paid a late-night visit by a mysterious talking raven.
