NTPA is proud to announce that Sara Egelston Akers received the 2022 Junior League of Collin County Women of Influence Legacy Award.
“As an extension of the Junior League of Collin County’s mission as an “organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers,” the Collin County Women of Influence Awards celebrates volunteerism by recognizing influential women volunteers who live, work, or serve in Collin County. Proceeds from the event support the charitable works of the Junior League of Collin County.
The 2022 Honorees will also be recognized:

- Nonprofit Professional of the Year: Sherelle Alexander Reed
- Volunteer of the Year: DeAdrian Maddox
- Young Professional of the Year: Kate Valent
- Legacy Award: Sara Egelston Akers

In 1991, Sara founded Plano Children’s Theatre as an educational performing arts organization to serve the youth in Plano. Starting with just 50 students, Sara directed the first PCT show, still a fan favorite today, The Wizard of Oz.
Upon that foundation the North Texas Performing Arts was created in 2015. Now, more than 30 years later, the organization has expanded to offer programs to thousands of students each year across Collin, Dallas, and Tarrant Counties.
