Where do I Start?
The NTPA UpSTARt Workshop is a free 2-hour workshop designed for the new student who wants to learn more about being a star on an NTPA stage! This fast-paced, high-energy, and fun-filled workshop will give your future actor the confidence to take the stage and the training so that they know what to expect!
UpSTARters (ages 5-18) will:
- Enjoy a FUN introduction to Theatre!
- Experience the energy and excitement of NTPA
- Learn tips & techniques for audition preparation
- Learn the tools of an actor … voice, body and imagination
- Parents learn what it means to be an NTPA Parent
- Receive two free tickets to an upcoming show

I’ve never done theatre before. Can I still join your program?
Yes! The best place to start is our free UpSTARt workshop! You will learn more about what’s involved with being in an NTPA show and can talk with one of our instructors about which program might be the best fit for you.
How do I prepare for an audition?
Check out our blog for some helpful articles on prepping for your first audition! You can also get insider tips and learn what to expect at our UpSTARt workshops. Want more personalized help preparing? Check out our private lessons! We have a New Student Audition Special including three 30-minute sessions where our instructors will help students prepare, rehearse, and submit their first audition.
How much does it cost?
Tuition for our programs ranges greatly from $50-600. Tuition for each program is stated on the website. Needs-based scholarships are available for all programs. Every production requires parent volunteer support, and some of those roles include a tuition scholarship when the parent signs up. In addition to tuition, students enrolled in productions may be expected to provide their own costume pieces and may have a ticket requirement.

Since opening its doors in 1991 (as Plano Children’s Theatre), NTPA has welcomed over 2,000,000 students, patrons, members, and sponsors. NTPA provides youth, ages 5 to 18, an opportunity to discover and develop their passion for the arts while developing life-long skills and character. With a wide range of productions, classes, camps and workshops, NTPA has something to offer for any student ready to take the stage and become a part of the NTPA family.

We promote the life skills of Teamwork, Leadership, Responsibility, Respect, Self-Confidence, Integrity, Discipline, Gratitude, Positive Attitude, and, above all, to Love One Another to guide our youth on a path to be become better citizens within their communities.
Because all the world truly is a stage, it makes it that much more important that the world’s players influence the community around them. NTPA maintains a giant footprint in the community and a strong reputation for giving back. These are just some of the ways we’re making a difference in our community.
